Clarke Quay, Singapore
Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore’s second governor, Clarke Quay, situated at the mouth of the Singapore River, was the trade centre and the warehouse district of Singapore during the British colonial era.
Today, all the warehouses of Clarke Quay have been restored and transformed into restaurants and pubs. The river junks have been remodeled to form several floating restaurants and pubs. It is now a popular hangout for locals and tourists; and it is usually fully packed in the evening.
