Arc de Triomphe

Situated at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle (also known as Place de l\\\'Étoile), there stands the Arc de Triomphe de l\\\'Étoile which is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. The monument was built to honour those who fought and died for France in French
Revolutionary War. The Arc was designed by the French architect Jean-François-Thérèse Chalgrin (1739-1811).

Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon in 1806, was completed in 1836 fifteen years after Napoleon’s death. Therefore, Napoleon did not have the opportunity to walk thru the Arc. Today, you may accomplish what Napoleon could not accomplish, by walking thru the Arc de Triomphe.
