Place de la Concorde
At the end of Av. Champs-Élysées, you will find the largest square in Paris, Place de la Concorde. If you continue to go further east, you would pass through Jardin des Tuileries and arrive at Musee Du Louvre.
The Place was originally called Place King Louis to honour the King in 1755. It was designed by a prominent French architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel (1698 –1782). During the French Revolution, the area was renamed to Place de La Revolution, a guillotine was erected and King Louis XVI was executed there on January 21, 1793.
In the mid of Place de la Concorde, you may find one of the original two Luxor obelisks, the other one remains at Luxor Temple, Egypt.
