Some things about the country Edit
Vietnam is situated on the east coast of the Indochina Peninsula, with China on its north and Lao and Cambodia on its west side. The country was colonized by the French in mid-19th century till it was split into North Vietnam and South Vietnam, after the First Indochina War, in 1954. These two countries were in intense conflict during the famous Vietnam War, till they were unified to form a Communist country by North Vietnam in 1975. After seeing the success of the Chinese Economic Reform, that took place in 1978, Vietnam initiated a series of economic and political reforms in 1986. Since the country started its reform, Vietnam has introduced lots of attractive policies and incentives to lure foreign investors and tourists to make investments in the country. The official language for Vietnam is Vietnamese. French, however, is a popular language used among the older folks. This is due to the fact that it was a French colony decades ago. With the help of the economic reforms, Vietnam becomes a major tourist favorite. The most popular sites for tourists in the country are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) and Ha Long. French cuisines and pubs can be found in these cities quite easily. In addition to its currency Dong, the US currency, USD, is well received in many fine dining restaurants and pubs.
