Some things about the country Edit
The United States of America, commonly referred as the United States, US or USA, consists of 50 states and its capital district, Washington, District of Columbia (D.C.). While the state of Hawaii is in the mid-Pacific, Its Alaska state is in the northwest of the continent and is situated between Canada and Russia. The remaining 48 contiguous states and its capital, Washington, D. C., are situated in North America, with Canada to its north and Mexico to its south. The country also possesses several territories in Pacific and Caribbean, e.g. Guam, Puerto Rico, United States Virgin Islands and Northern Mariana Islands. Though the official language is English, Spanish is also quite popular, particularly in the southern states. You would find quite a few Spanish speaking TV channels throughout the USA. Since the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492, there were many immigrant settlements from many European countries, e.g. Spain, France, Netherland & Great Britain, to this continent. After the Dutch ceded their territory to England, in 1674 and the seizure of the French territory by the English force during the French and Indian War (1754-1763), most of the settlement territories, mainly on the East coast, were controlled by the British government. On July 4, 1776, after the American Revolutionary (1775-1781), the United States of America declared its independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The northern territory, Canada, however, remained loyal to the Great Britain. Being sandwiched by two oceans, Pacific and Atlantic, and with its Pacific state Hawaii, the United States has so many nice beaches for many water sports, e.g. swimming, surfing, scuba diving, etc. The United States was formed mainly due to a large scale of immigration from many countries; it is one of the most cultural diversified countries. With this multicultural background and its vast natural resources, the United States is one of the best countries for tourism. In addition to its most famous Disneyland and Disney World in Los Angeles, CA and Orlando, FL respectively, there are many other amusement parks and attractions, i.e. Universal Studios, Sea World, 6 flags throughout the countries. While the film capital Hollywood is situated in Los Angeles, New York City is a centre for many high profile entertainment performances in its Broadway and Time Square areas. You would find many of the world renounced shows, including Les Miserable, Phantom of the Opera, Lion King, to name a few, being performed in these areas. Many artists around the world would come to US to pursue their stardoms.
