Some things about the country Edit
Taiwan Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China (ROC), is situated in a group of islands, including the island of Taiwan (also known as Formosa), Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu and few other smaller islands, to the east of the mainland China, People’s Republic of China (PRC). After Kuomintang surrendered the mainland China to the Communist Party, Republic of China moved to Taiwan in 1945. With its Chinese heritage, its strong tie with USA and the influence from Japan, Taiwan is truly a country where the East meets the West. Tourists may find lots of Chinese cultures, Chinese architectures and the more modern westernized buildings in this country. One of the greatest attractions in Taiwan is the National Palace Museum that houses close to 700,000 artifacts from China, including many valuable paintings, calligraphy, vases, jade items, etc. This Museum is considered the world greatest collections of Chinese art and objects. On the other hand, its Taipei 101, formerly called Taipei World Financial Centre, was the world’s tallest building till the opening of Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010.
